Does the Oral-B Pro 1000 have a 2-minute timer?

Yes, the in-handle timer pulses every 30 seconds to tell you when to switch areas of the mouth Oral-B. Oral-B says those 4 pulses help you brush for the dentist-recommended 2 minutes Oral-B.

Does the Oral-B Pro 1000 spin?

Yes, the 3D cleaning action oscillates, rotates and pulsates to break up plaque Oral-B. That is a round rotating head, not the sonic sweep of a Philips brush.

Is the Oral-B Pro 1000 waterproof?

Yes, Oral-B says all its electric toothbrushes are waterproof, so the shower is fine Oral-B. Oral-B does not recommend holding the brush under water, and says to dry the handle fully before charging.

What is in the Oral-B Pro 1000 box?

The black and white twin pack holds 2 handles, 2 CrossAction heads and 2 chargers Oral-B. The Pro 1000 Gum Care single pack holds 1 handle, 1 charger and 2 brush heads Oral-B.

Pro 1000 CrossAction or Pro 1000 Gum Care?

Oral-B sells two Pro 1000 handles. The CrossAction version has 3 modes and angled bristles. The Gum Care version has 1 mode and ultra-thin bristles, with a second head in the box.

Who the Oral-B Pro 1000 is for

Good fit if

    Good fit if:

    • You want a round rotating head.
    • You brush too hard and know it.
    • You want 3 modes, no app.
    • You already own Oral-B brush heads.
    • You charge your brush at home.

    Pick another model if:

    • You want 4 weeks per charge and a travel pouch: pick the iO Series 2 Oral-B.
    • You want the simplest Oral-B with a quadrant timer: pick the Pro 500 Oral-B.
    • You want gentler bristles and a spare head in the box: pick the Pro 1000 Gum Care Oral-B.

Good to know before you buy

    • The Pro 1000 does not fit iO brush heads. Buy CrossAction, FlossAction, Precision Clean, 3D White, Sensitive Gum Care, Deep Sweep or Dual Clean refills instead Oral-B.
    • Oral-B lists no travel case with the Pro 1000. Its iO2, iO3 and iO4 each come with one, so add a holder if you travel often Oral-B comparison.
    • A full charge takes 12 to 18 hours on most Oral-B models. Charge it overnight before the first brush, and keep the base free for the next refill Oral-B.
    • The charger is made for one region. Check the voltage printed on the base before you travel, because Oral-B says the charger and the outlet must match Oral-B.
    • Oral-B says to replace the head every 3 months. The blue Indicator bristles fade halfway to white when it is time Oral-B.
    Tip

Oral-B says to unplug the charger and run the handle flat every 6 months, which helps the battery hold its charge Oral-B.

How the Oral-B Pro 1000 compares

    Oral-B Pro 1000 vs iO Series 2

The Pro 1000 makes the bigger plaque claim at the gum line. The iO Series 2 runs 4 weeks per charge, signals red when you press, and brings a travel pouch Oral-B Oral-B.

    Battery and charging

Oral-B puts the Pro 1000 at about 10 days of brushing on one charge Oral-B comparison. By our maths, 10 days of 2 brushings of 2 minutes is about 40 minutes of brushing per charge.

The Pro series puts the charge light and the low battery light on the handle itself Oral-B. Oral-B says you will charge more often if two people share one handle, or if you brush more than twice a day.

How long does the Oral-B Pro 1000 take to charge?

Oral-B says most of its brushes take 12 to 18 hours to charge fully Oral-B. Only the iO 7, 8 and 9 Series fill in about 3 hours.

What does the red light on the Pro 1000 mean?

The red light means it is time to charge. On the Pro 1000 and above, Oral-B says there is enough power left for 1 or 2 more brushes Oral-B.

Can you use the Oral-B Pro 1000 abroad?

It depends on the charger in your box. Oral-B ships region-specific chargers, so check the base: a 100 to 240 V smart plug works worldwide, and a 110 volt 60 cycle charger needs a converter in higher-voltage countries Oral-B.

Does the Pro 1000 stop you brushing too hard?

Yes, the pressure sensor stops the pulsations when you press too hard, which Oral-B says prevents harmful over-brushing Oral-B. You keep the oscillation and lose the pulsing beat until you ease off.

Oral-B also says toothpaste on the handle can hold the sensor on. Rinse the metal pin and the handle under warm water for at least 10 seconds if that happens Oral-B.

Which brush heads fit the Oral-B Pro 1000?

Seven standard Oral-B head types fit: CrossAction, FlossAction, Precision Clean, 3D White, Sensitive Gum Care, Deep Sweep and Dual Clean Oral-B. The iO heads are a separate system and do not fit.

Oral-B says to swap the head every 3 months, or sooner if the bristles fray Oral-B. The blue Indicator bristles fade halfway to white as a reminder.

    Note

Your handle carries a 4-digit type number on its underside. Use that number to find the right refills and the right manual Oral-B.

How to set up and use it

Oral-B gives these steps for its rechargeable brushes Oral-B Oral-B.

    1. Push the CrossAction head onto the metal pin until it seats.
    2. Stand the handle upright on the charger and plug the charger in.
    3. Leave it 12 to 18 hours for the first full charge.
    4. Place toothpaste on the brush head.
    5. Hold the brush at a 45 degree angle, as you would a manual toothbrush.
    6. Press the power button to start.
    7. Glide the head from tooth to tooth and do not scrub.
    8. Hold the head on each tooth for a few seconds before you move on.
    9. Use very light pressure and let the rotating head do the work.
    10. Switch area each time the timer pulses, and stop at about 2 minutes.
    Before you start

If the brush stops pulsing while you brush, you are pressing too hard. Ease off and keep gliding Oral-B.

Care and quick fixes from Oral-B

How to clean the Oral-B Pro 1000

    1. Pull the brush head off the handle after each use.
    2. Rinse the head and the bristles fully under the tap.
    3. Rinse the handle daily to clear toothpaste and debris.
    4. Wipe the handle with a damp cloth from time to time.
    5. Dry the handle fully before you stand it back on the charger.
    6. Store the handle and the head upright and apart, so they air dry.

Oral-B says never to boil a brush head, microwave it or put it in the dishwasher, because the heat damages it Oral-B. At home, skip a closed travel holder, because the damp inside helps bacteria grow.

If it will not charge or will not hold a charge

    1. Give it 10 minutes on the charger before you expect the light to flash.
    2. Check the outlet works, and switch on the cabinet light switch if there is one.
    3. Move the charger off any metal surface, which can block charging.
    4. Charge for the full time Oral-B lists for your model.
    5. Allow up to 15 minutes for the flashing to start if the battery ran flat.
    6. Watch for the flashing to stop, which means the charge is complete.

If it still will not hold a charge, Oral-B points you to its 2-year warranty and its online repair service Oral-B.

If the pressure sensor stays on

Rinse the metal pin and the handle under warm water for at least 10 seconds Oral-B. Oral-B says toothpaste build-up can trigger the sensor again and again.

    Oral-B Pro 1000 FAQ

Is the Oral-B Pro 1000 a sonic toothbrush?

No, it is an oscillating-rotating brush. The round head oscillates, rotates and pulsates rather than sweeping side to side Oral-B.

Does the Oral-B Pro 1000 come with a travel case?

You can, with a brush head each, and Oral-B says a shared handle needs charging more often Oral-B. The twin pack ships 2 handles for that reason.
