Battery and charging
Oura lists up to 6 to 9 days on one charge, depending on ring size and usage Oura. A full charge takes about 80 minutes, depending on the battery level. Every Oura charger is size-specific, so the one in the box matches your ring support.
The charger light shows the state. Breathing white means charging, solid green means full, and breathing blue means ready to pair.
Oura also sells an Oura Ring 5 Charging Case. Oura says it gives a full day of battery life in 10 minutes, and up to one month of battery in total Ourablog.

Oura lists the Ring 5 as 40% smaller than the Ring 4, with 40% less volume blogsupport. The width drops from 7.90 mm to 6.09 mm. That is 1.81 mm narrower, about 23% less, by our maths.
Battery life moves from 5 to 8 days up to 6 to 9 days. The ring now carries 2 photodetectors instead of 3, holds 3 days of data instead of 7, and comes in sizes 6 to 13 instead of 4 to 15.
What the Oura Ring 5 tracks
Oura says the Ring 5 puts 50+ health metrics at your fingertips, across sleep, activity, stress, heart health and recovery Oura. Four sensor types do the work support:
2 photodetectors and 2 triple LEDs, in red, green and infrared
Red and infrared light for blood oxygen
Green and infrared light for heart rate, heart rate variability and respiration rate
A digital temperature sensor and an accelerometer
Oura uses a 3D accelerometer to measure movement in all directions, and its algorithms pick steps out of that data support. Active calories use METs, with 1.5 METs as the lowest threshold that counts.
The ring keeps collecting data with Bluetooth off, in Airplane Mode, or away from the app support.
Before you start
Oura says the ring "is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent medical conditions" support.
Which finger should you wear it on?
Oura says the ring can be worn on any finger of either hand support. It recommends the index, middle or ring finger for better signal quality.
The fit matters as much as the finger. Oura says the ring should sit snug, not tight, at the base of your finger, with no visible gap when you make a fist support. If you land between sizes, Oura suggests the smaller one.
The sensor bumps sit on the palm side of your finger and need skin contact to read well support.
Titanium build and the six finishes
Oura lists a full titanium exterior and interior with a superhard PVD coating support. The store page lists 6 finishes: Silver, Black, Brushed Silver, Stealth, Gold and Deep Rose Oura.
Oura asks you to take the ring off for weightlifting, and when you handle metal, ceramic or stone support. It also asks you not to wear other rings directly next to it. Oura's warranty lists scratches and dents from everyday handling as normal wear support.
Does the Oura Ring 5 come in ceramic?
No. Oura lists 6 titanium finishes for the Ring 5 Oura. Zirconia ceramic appears on the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic page instead, which also ships with a Ceramic Polishing Pad Oura. Oura says never to use that pad on titanium models.
How to set up and use it
Download the Oura app from the App Store or Google Play.
Check your phone meets the OS and Bluetooth needs listed above.
Unbox the ring and the charger.
Plug the charger into a USB power source, such as a laptop or a power brick.
Put your ring on the charger. The LED blinks blue when the ring is ready to pair.
Turn your phone's Bluetooth on.
Follow the in-app steps to set up your Oura account and pair the ring support.
Activity data shows up straight away. Sleep and Readiness Scores need one night of sleep first.
Care and quick fixes from the manual
How to clean the Oura Ring 5
Clean the sensors on the inside of the ring about once a week.
Wipe them with a cloth, or the inside of a t-shirt.
Oura says hand sanitizer is safe on the ring. Keep chargers out of humid rooms.
If it will not charge
Unplug the cable, then rotate each end 180 degrees and plug it back in.
Try a different power source, such as a USB wall plug or a laptop.
Try a different USB-C cable.
Watch the dock light with no ring on it. A white light that fades means the dock works.
With the ring on, leave it for 2 minutes, then check the app again.
Contact Oura support with the steps you tried if the light stays off support.
If it will not connect
Update your phone's OS and the Oura app.
Put the ring on its charger, and your phone on its own charger.
Put the phone next to the ring.
Turn your phone's Wi-Fi off and move other wireless devices away.
Restart the phone, or delete and reinstall the Oura app support.
For a Bluetooth reset, leave the ring on the powered charger. Turn Bluetooth off, force close the app, then turn Bluetooth back on. Remove the ring from your paired devices list and pair it again.
For a hardware reset, keep the ring on the charger. Tap the charger firmly and rapidly a few times on a table, with the ring still in place. Wait one minute, then check the app.
On Android 12 or later, grant the app "nearby devices" permission. On Android 11 or older, turn location services on for Bluetooth to work.
How to factory reset it
Put the ring on the charger for a few minutes and let the app sync.
Back up your data with Settings›Back up all data.
Take the ring off the charger and set it on a flat surface.
Open My Devices and choose Factory reset.
Leave the ring still, off the charger, for 2 minutes.
Remove the ring from your phone's Bluetooth device list support.
A factory reset erases the data stored on the ring. Oura says data already synced to your account stays put.
