How many watts is the Conair InfinitiPRO hair dryer?

The Conair InfinitiPRO AC Pro Dryer draws 1,875 watts manual. Conair pairs that power with an AC motor it says lasts up to 3x longer than a DC motor.

Is the Conair InfinitiPRO hair dryer dual voltage?

No, it is not dual voltage. Conair builds it for 110 to 125 volts AC on 60 hertz power manual. The same guide says not to use it with a voltage converter.

Is the Conair InfinitiPRO hair dryer ionic?

Yes. Conair's ionizing function makes a cloud of negative ions as you dry manual.

Conair InfinitiPRO 650 or the FloMotion and Frizz Free models?

All three are InfinitiPRO by Conair dryers at 1,875 watts with 3 heat and 2 speed settings. The 650 keeps the airflow fixed. The 680 adds a dial you turn to change the airflow, and the 750N adds a stronger ion generator.

On the 680, an open dial gives maximum airflow for faster drying, and a closed dial gives slower airflow with higher heat for curls and waves FloMotion manual. Conair says that dial does not close all the way, so do not force it.

Who the Conair InfinitiPRO is for

Good fit if
  • You dry your hair at home on US power.
  • You want both a diffuser and a concentrator.
  • You want ionic drying for frizz.
  • Your hair is thin, average, thick or treated.
  • You like to finish with cold air.
Pick another model if
  • You want to change the airflow by hand: pick the InfinitiPRO FloMotion Pro FloMotion manual.
  • You want more ions and 2x shine: pick the InfinitiPRO Frizz Free Pro Frizz Free manual.

Conair describes this dryer as effective even at lower temperatures, with maximum styling control manual.

Good to know before you buy

  • Conair builds this dryer for 110 to 125 volts AC and says not to use a voltage converter. If you travel to a 220 volt country, buy a dryer made for the voltage and plug used there manual.
  • The guide says not to use an extension cord with the dryer. Plan to dry your hair within reach of a wall outlet manual.
  • The plug holds an ALCI safety device that you test before each use. Press TEST with the dryer plugged in, then press RESET and plug it back in manual.
  • Blocked air intake vents make the dryer or the heat switch off. Unplug it, let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes, and clear the vents before you restart manual.
  • The 4-year warranty runs in the US and Canada. Conair asks for the product, your purchase receipt and a small fee for postage and handling manual.
Before you start

Conair says any hair dryer is electrically live even when the switch is off, so unplug it straight after use.

How the Conair InfinitiPRO compares

Conair InfinitiPRO vs Revlon One-Step

These two do different jobs. The Conair is a hand-held dryer with a diffuser and a concentrator, and the Revlon One-Step Volumizer is a hot air brush that dries and styles in one pass Revlon.

Revlon says the oval brush smooths hair while the round edges build volume at the root. Conair sells styling control through separate attachments instead, so you choose a brush of your own.

Conair InfinitiPRO vs Remington Shine Therapy

These two line up closely on paper. Both run 1,875 watts through an AC motor with 3 heat settings, 2 speed settings and a cool shot Remington.

Remington puts a micro-conditioner in the grill that releases onto the hair as you dry. Conair works on frizz with ions and full spectrum infrared heat instead.

Does the Conair InfinitiPRO reduce frizz?

Yes. Conair says the ionizing function makes a cloud of negative ions that help reduce frizz by up to 75%, next to dryers with natural ion generation manual.

Conair lists three more results for those ions. They neutralize the positive charge on flyaway hair, they get rid of static electricity, and they add shine manual.

The heat works on frizz as well. Conair describes its ceramic technology as full spectrum infrared heat that dries hair molecules inside and out, which it says keeps heat damage down manual.

Which heat and speed setting is right for your hair?

Conair prints a setting chart in the styling guide manual. Match the setting to your hair type.

Setting Hair type
LOW/COOL Delicate, thin or easy-to-style hair
LOW/WARM Average to thick hair, or treated hair
HIGH/HOT Thick, coarse or hard-to-style hair
Cold shot Sets the style in place, all hair types
Tip

Conair says to start at a lower setting and work up, rather than reaching for high heat first.

What the diffuser and the concentrator do

The dryer ships with both attachments manual. Each one shapes the air in a different way.

Use the snap-on concentrator when you want pinpoint airflow, for example on a straight finish. Conair says to work section by section with a round brush about 2 inches across, holding each section taut manual.

Use the diffuser for waves and curls. Conair's guide also makes tousled waves by scrunching hair at the roots between your fingertips while you dry manual.

Is it safe to use in the bathroom?

Conair says to install a GFCI outlet if you must use a hair dryer in the bathroom manual. The US National Electrical Code requires GFCIs in the bathrooms, garages and outdoor outlets of all new homes.

The guide is firm on water. Never use the dryer while bathing or in the shower, and never store it where it can fall into a tub or sink manual. If it does fall in water, unplug it first and do not reach into the water.

How to set up and use it

  1. Plug the dryer in and press the TEST button on the plug. The dryer stops, you hear a click, and the RESET button pops out.
  2. Unplug the dryer, press RESET back in, and plug it into the outlet again. The ALCI is now working.
  3. Shampoo and condition your hair, rinse it well, then towel-dry it to take out the extra water.
  4. Snap on the concentrator for a straight finish, or the diffuser for waves and curls.
  5. Start at a lower setting. Direct hot air through one section of hair at a time, with your styling brush.
  6. Move the dryer steadily across each section so the air passes through the hair. Aim at the hair, not the scalp.
  7. Keep the air intake vents clear of hair while you dry.
  8. Keep the dryer moving. Do not hold the heat on one section for a long time.
  9. For curls and waves, dry almost fully on a warmer setting, then press the cold shot button to lock the style in.

For extra volume, Conair says to turn your head upside down while drying and aim the air at the roots manual. Toss your head back and brush the hair into place once it is dry.

Care and quick fixes from the manual

How to clean the Conair InfinitiPRO filter

  1. Unplug the dryer and let it cool.
  2. Brush the dust and lint out of the air intake openings. Use a small brush or the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner.
  3. Wipe the outer surface of the dryer with a cloth.

Conair says the dryer is otherwise close to maintenance free and needs no lubrication manual.

If the dryer or the heat switches off

Blocked or clogged air intake vents cause the dryer to overheat, and an automatic safety device then shuts the dryer or the heat off manual.

  1. Unplug the cord.
  2. Let the dryer cool for 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Check that the air vents are clean, then restart it.

If the reset button pops out during use

Conair says a reset button that pops out mid-use can point to a fault in the unit manual.

  1. Take the plug out of the outlet and let the dryer cool.
  2. Put the plug back in. The dryer should now work as normal.
  3. If it does not, return it to an authorized Conair Service Center.

If the dryer has been in water, take it to a service center and do not try to reset it yourself.

If the circuit breaker trips

Running the dryer on the same circuit or fuse as other appliances can trip a 15 amp breaker or blow a 15 amp fuse manual. Move the dryer to another circuit. Never fit a fuse rated higher than the circuit.

How to store it

Unplug the dryer, let it cool, and store it somewhere safe and dry, out of reach of children manual. Do not wrap the cord around the dryer. Let the cord hang loose and straight where it enters the body.
