How much does the Sun Joe SPX3000 weigh?
Sun Joe lists the SPX3000 at 24.3 lbs on the product page, and the manual gives the net weight as 25 lbs, or 11.3 kg Sun Joemanual. Both figures are the machine alone.
How big is the Sun Joe SPX3000?
Sun Joe lists the assembled unit at 33.9 inches high, 13.5 inches wide and 15.6 inches deep Sun Joe. By our maths that footprint is about 1.5 square feet of floor space (13.5 x 15.6, divided by 144).
Is the Sun Joe SPX3000 electric or gas?
The SPX3000 is electric. The manual lists the supply as 120 V at 60 Hz with a 13 amp motor, so there is no engine, no fuel and no pull cord manual.
SPX3000 or SPX3000-XT1?
Pick the SPX3000 for the two onboard soap tanks and the five spray tips. The SPX3000-XT1 trades those tanks for a 33.8 fl oz foam cannon, adds pressure and carries a 3 year warranty Sun Joe.
→You want 2500 rated PSI: pick the SPX4800 Sun Joe.
→You want a foam cannon in the box: pick the SPX3000-XT1 Sun Joe.
→You want a 15.4 lb machine: pick the SPX1000 Sun Joe.
Good to know before you buy
!
The SPX3000 takes clean, cool tap water from a garden hose. The manual caps the inlet at 104 F (40 C) and 0.7 MPa, which is about 100 PSI by our maths (0.7 x 145) manual. The garden hose must be reinforced, at least 1/2 inch inside, and the supply must match the washer's flow.
!
Sun Joe does not recommend an extension cord. The machine ships with a 35 ft GFCI cord, so plan the outlet around that manual. If you must use one, the manual asks for 14 gauge or heavier, 25 ft at most, under 60 ft combined.
!
Only the black soap nozzle draws detergent. The other four tips will not pull from the tanks, so turn the dial to the center O position to rinse manual. Use cleaners made for pressure washers, never household detergent, bleach, solvents or acids.
!
Store it indoors, above 32 F. The manual states that freeze damage is not covered by the warranty manual. Empty the hoses, pump and soap tanks first, and use a pump protector over winter.
!
The 2 year warranty covers ordinary household use. It needs proof of purchase from an authorized seller, and runs from the purchase or delivery date manual. Commercial and rental use falls outside it, so register the machine and keep the receipt.
How the Sun Joe SPX3000 compares
Sun Joe SPX3000 vs Kärcher K5
The two machines land on almost the same water numbers. Kärcher lists its current K 5 FC at 2000 PSI and 1.2 GPM, in a 13.6 lb body Kärcher. The SPX3000 answers with 2030 rated PSI, five tips and two onboard soap tanks.
The Westinghouse ePX3500 lists a higher top pressure and a lighter body, in a four-caster frame. Westinghouse gives 2500 max PSI, 2000 rated PSI and 1.76 max GPM at 19 lbs Westinghouse. The SPX3000 carries two soap tanks instead of one, and a 34 inch stainless steel lance.
Sun Joe lists homes, buildings, RVs, cars, trucks, boats, decks, driveways, patios and lawn equipment Sun Joe. It says the machine removes tar, grease, heavy mildew, oil stains, rust and caked mud.
The manual sets the limits by nozzle, and asks you to pick the tip with care. The wrong one can gouge wood or damage fragile surfaces manual.
Which spray tip should I use?
The manual gives a job for each of the five quick-connect tips manual.
Tip
What the manual says
0 degrees (red)
Pencil-point jet for spot cleaning. Tar and grease on concrete, caked mud, hard-to-reach areas.
15 degrees (yellow)
Intense cleaning on hard surfaces. Paint stripping, oil stains, heavy mildew, rust from steel.
25 degrees (green)
All-purpose cleaning. Home siding, brick patios, wood decks, driveways, sidewalks.
Low-pressure detergent. Equipment, mildew and oxidation on houses, brick, grimy surfaces.
Before you start
Never change a tip without the safety lock engaged. Turn the washer off, shut the water off and pull the trigger to release the pressure first manual.
With the 25 degree tip, test a small area first. When you rinse, start at the top and work down, overlapping each stroke.
Why does the SPX3000 stop and start by itself?
That is the Total Stop System doing its job. A micro-switch senses water flow in the pump, so the motor shuts off whenever you let go of the trigger manual. Sun Joe says this protects the pump from overheating and saves energy.
The manual calls that standby pause normal. Squeeze the trigger and the pump motor restarts.
Note
If it starts and stops with the trigger held, the manual points to a leaking pump or gun, or a broken trigger. Sun Joe asks you to call 1-866-225-9723 manual.
How to set up and use it
Assemble it
The SPX3000 arrives in parts. The box holds the washer, handle, trigger gun, wand, five nozzles, two detergent tanks, the hoses, the holders, a needle clean-out tool and six screws manual.
Stand the washer upright on a firm, level surface, close to the water supply.
Slide the trigger gun holder on, then the handle, and fix it with the 4 large screws.
Push each tank in top end first, under the ridge, then snap the base into the V-shaped grooves.
Connect the PVC detergent tube to the detergent connection.
Snap the wand protector tab into the lower left slot and fix it with one small screw.
Slide the hose holder on and fix it with the last small screw.
Fit the spray wand into the trigger gun and turn the collar until the parts lock.
Connect the water and power
Connect the high pressure hose to the trigger gun, then to the water outlet at the back.
Screw the garden hose adapter onto the water inlet, then thread your garden hose into it.
Open the tap at the water supply fully.
Check the switch is at OFF, then plug the cord into a 120 V outlet.
Press RESET on the GFCI plug until the power light comes on manual.
Tip
The cord is 35 ft and the hose is 20 ft, so the gun can sit about 55 ft from the outlet, by our maths.
Start and stop it
With the water on, drop the safety lock and hold the trigger until the flow runs steady. This bleeds the air out.
Turn the switch to ON to start the washer.
To stop, turn the switch to OFF and unplug the cord, then shut the water off.
Hold the trigger to release the pressure, disconnect both hoses, and engage the safety lock manual.
For a break of five minutes or more, engage the gun safety lock, switch the machine OFF and unplug the cord.
How to use soap in the two tanks
Pull a tank out, take off the cap and suction tube, and fill it with pressure washer detergent.
Put the tube back in, cap the tank and push it home.
Turn the detergent dial to the tank you want. The same dial sets the flow rate.
Fit the black soap nozzle on the wand.
Start the washer and squeeze the trigger. The detergent mixes with the water by itself.
Spray a dry surface from the bottom upward, and let the soap sit briefly without drying.
Afterwards, put the suction tube in 1.3 gal (5 L) of fresh water and siphon for one minute manual.
Wetting the surface first is not recommended, because it dilutes the detergent. Wash and rinse a small section at a time, out of direct sunlight.
Care and quick fixes from the manual
How to clean the water inlet filter
Unplug the washer first.
Take the garden hose adapter off the water inlet.
Remove the pre-filter and the water inlet filter.
Rinse both in warm water and refit them, so nothing clogs the pump manual.
How to clean a nozzle
Turn the washer off, shut the water off and release the pressure.
Take the spray wand off the gun.
Clear the nozzle hole with the needle clean-out tool supplied, then rinse it.
Back flush the rest out: hold a running garden hose to the tip, so water pushes debris out of the back manual.
If the SPX3000 will not turn on
Check the machine is plugged into a working outlet.
Check the power cord and press RESET on the GFCI, then try a different outlet.
Replace a blown fuse, and switch off other machines on the same circuit.
The manual names four causes: frozen parts, no water supply, a blocked inlet filter, or a blocked nozzle manual. Wait for anything frozen to thaw, connect the inlet water, then clean the filter and the nozzle.
How to store it for winter
Disconnect every water connection.
Run the machine a few seconds until the water in the pump comes out, then switch it off.
Empty the hoses, the pump and the detergent tanks.
Run non-corrosive antifreeze or a pump protector through it before the cold sets in.
Store it indoors, dry and covered, away from dry heat manual.
